Summer Schools 2018

Summer Schools 2019

Throughout the summer holidays we offer a choice of two FREE muscial theatre courses for performers aged 16-18 years. Depending on age and experience, students undertake a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Performing Arts.

This is a fully funded course (if you are 16-18) and enables the participants to perform in a juke-box musical theatre performance of Little Shop of Horrors extracts, along with other shows.

This is a very rewarding experience but does require commitment, energy and passion from any young people wanting to take part. There is a large amount of work involved to achieve these qualifications and required standards of performance in such a short space of time.

This year the courses run from Friday 2nd August 2019 - Friday 16th August 2019.

Overview

Students will study towards becoming Triple Threat performers: acting, singing, dancing and musical theatre and theatre craft, building towards a live performance for the public, as well as qualifications at Level 2 or 3 (age and experience will depend which).

They will build a foundation in all these areas and develop a practical and theoretical understanding, as well as developing their own skills and techniques. They will apply these skills to performances, focusing on the integration of all disciplines.

The Timetable

Friday 2nd August - 10am-6pm - Induction day, vocal and movement workshops, auditions and assessments for solos (you do not have to try for a solo - there is plenty of group and chorus work).

Monday 5th August - Friday 9th August - 10am-6pm daily - Intensive workshops in singing, dance and musicality. You will work with a Movement Director, Musical Director, Singing teacher and Show Director.

Monday 12th - Friday 16th Aug 10am-6pm Daily - Intense workshopping on Little Shop.

Wednesday 14th - West End Trip - Show tbc in June 2019

Friday 16th Aug - 10am-4pm - Tech, Dress, and exam performance. 5pm-6.00pm - Show case in the Studio Theatre at South Hill Park. Family and friends are welcome to purchase tickets from our box office from August 1st.

The courses

This is a fully funded (FREE) opportunity for capable and committed young people aged 16-18 years. We offer subsidised opportunities for students 19 years of age and above, or aged 14/15 and able to cope with the work level.

From 2nd August - 16th August, young people aged 16-18 years can undertake an RSL qualification in Performing Arts in eleven intensive days (full time).
